This "Science" talk is ludicrous!

Why? Because...

I'm not being political in any way but If I sound political or naive, I beg to be pardoned. The president of Uganda has repeatedly downplayed the value of art and gone on to refer to artists as "story tellers"! But I would like to remind Mr. Museveni that he is one of the "story tellers", and that being the "Story teller" that he is, he has managed to lead this country for the last 35 years a record never matched by any other Ugandan. I doubt if anyone will even ever be at the helm of leadership in this country for this long.

If science is about fact, art is about fiction and debates. If Science delves into the world and beyond, Arts is about searching within. When did we begin to separate Art and Science, and why? It's very easy to sit in an imaginary chair and state vividly that "Science is greater than art" but the truth is, if you could take a few steps back, you would realize to what extent this statement weighs no salt whatsoever.

Make no mistake about it Mr, Art and Science collaborate to create a fulfilled society, a society that everyone desires to live in. If this wasn't true, Albert Einstein, one of the greatest scientists the world has ever seen wouldn't use both words in the same sentence, here I quote him, "The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science."

Mr. President, May I please remind you that the best way to represent science is by using Art, and the best way to represent Art is by using Science? We all know how a human heart looks like thanks to the artistic skills of some one individual who represented this science using art. Looking at the image I have chosen for this post, you'll realize that science invented the music instrument, yet it's played by art. The only way we will grow exponentially as a nation is by creating an all-encompassing feel of both science and Art, but not elevating one over the other.

I believe each one of us was created with a seed of greatness within, it could be an art that needs ignition or a science soon to be discovered. Make no mistake about it, the list of the greatest people on earth includes both scientists and artists by an equal measure. If we were to agree with your argument on this matter, then let's start with you giving up the highest position in the land in favor of a scientist in J.R Achieng, or Dr. Kiiza B Kifeefe.

I don't believe the problem of Africa is science or art. I believe the problem with Africa is management. The many problems we have as a continent emanate from an inability to manage our affairs on the continent in the most effective way. Do you think science will resolve Africa's management problem? I don't think so...
